Joe loses his mom and his grandmother, then does the one thing that actually sounds like a plan. He digs through their recipes and decides to turn grief into something you can eat. With the life insurance money and help from friends, he opens “Enoteca Maria”, a traditional Italian restaurant where the kitchen is run by four real Nonnas from different parts of Italy. Not “inspired by”, not “themed”. Four grandmothers. Big pots. Serious comfort food.
And yes, the story drags some emotional baggage into the room too. He runs into Olivia at an Italian market, the same Olivia he once ditched at the prom. Classic. Also along for the ride: Bruno, his long-time friend, who seems to understand that a well-cooked meal can do more than distract you for an hour.
“Nonnas” is basically a warm, slightly messy reminder that the stuff you think is gone might come back, especially when it’s served hot.

Joe hat seine Mutter und seine Großmutter verloren. Schock, natürlich. Und dann macht er etwas, das man nicht von einem Trauerdrama erwartet: Er stapelt Rezepte statt Tränen und schmeißt mit dem Geld aus der Lebensversicherung und der Hilfe von Freunden eine Idee an die Wand. Ergebnis: „Enoteca Maria“, ein traditionelles italienisches Restaurant. Nicht als Deko-Idee, sondern mit echten Nonnas aus vier Regionen. Roberta, Antonella, Teresa und Gia kochen, als ginge es um mehr als Saucen und Timing.
Dazu kommt Olivia, die er auf einem italienischen Markt wiedertrifft. Spoiler: Er hat sie damals beim Abschlussball versetzt. Und sein langjähriger Freund Bruno ist auch da, weil jemand ja aufpassen muss, dass aus Schuld keine komplett kalte Küche wird. Das Ganze lebt von der Wärme fürs Essen. Und von dem stillen Gedanken: Vielleicht kann ein Tisch Erinnerungen zurückholen.
